très gros plan de rose

Born from the desire to have a nice freshness to enjoy in the garden with friends, Les Roses de Marie is not a garage wine, it is a thirst wine, a nice pleasure to drink right away.

The homecomming

ITS STORY

Les Roses de Marie harvest was marked by a contrasting spring, with alternating periods of mildness and coolness, and incessant attacks of mildew throughout the season. Good rains in September boosted ripening and saved the grapes that had escaped mildew.
We began by picking the Cabernet Franc from the L'Atelier plot, pressed immediately, followed by the Cabernet Sauvignon from the Les Roses plot. Some Merlot juice is recovered during the grape sorting process.
During the blind blending, the Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc are in perfect harmony, and it's only a small amount of Merlot juice that makes its way in to add a little fat and roundness. Les Roses de Marie are back - in very small quantities, it's true, but they're there!

IN SUMMARY

Harvest: September 27, 2023

Blend:

Cabernet-Sauvignon 71%, Cabernet Franc 32 %, Merlot 3%

Production: 372 bottles, 24 magnums

Degree: Alcohol by vol. 12%

Tasting (February 27, 2024,  root day, Thomas Marquant, oenologist):

Pale pink, limpid and brilliant.
Clean initial nose of fresh red berries, redcurrant and raspberry. Agitation reveals lovely citrus notes, pink grapefruit, and very pleasant floral aromas, giving a lightness of touch.
The palate, underpinned by fine acidity, does not belie the nose. The promise is kept, with a beautiful complexity and greediness thanks to the fruity and floral aromas. The midpalate is dense and fleshy. Nice tension on the finish, with lingering acid nuances.

Harmonises with

Squid persillade a la plancha, teriyaki chicken with honey and ginger, ratatouille confit, shrimp sauté with coconut milk and lime, spring quiche with spinach and fresh goat's cheese...
